Anything for you!

There’s nothing I won’t do for my kids. If you are a parent I’m sure you have the same mentality. Of course there are limits to “anything” but you get the drift.

So my daughter starts complaining one day about how much she misses Coco’s Curry. A restaurant we grew fond of in Okinawa, Japan that specialized in dishes with curry. I sympathized and took it as an all out challenge. My baby will get her Coco’s one way or another! I was a woman on a mission. Miracles happen everyday, right?
Well, long story short as you can see from the recipe, I was able to pull it off. After two frustrating attempts she got her Curry Cutlet and loved every bit of it. Her friends from Okinawa are even requesting I make them some and of course the answer is YES! But the Lord reminded me of something through this whole Curry Challenge, God does the same thing for us when we ask him for things. He clearly says it in the book of Matthew.

If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! (Matthew 7:11 NIV)

Sometimes we forget God is our Father. We can crawl up in His lap and ask Him for things too. We as parents are limited on what we can give our kids, but is God? There is no limit on what God can give us, He simply just wants us to ask.

Does your request seem too big?

Depends on how big you see God. If we see God as small and limited, then our requests will be small and limited.  But if we see God as Master, the Creator of the ends of the earth, the great I AM, our requests will match his greatness. My daughter asked for merely a piece of chicken in some sauce and I went above and beyond to get it to her. How much more will God do for us if we ask?

Today I challenge you as well as myself, to see God as He truly is; our loving Father, who has unlimited resources and desires to give us good things when we ask. No request is too big or too small we just need to have the courage to ask.

Enjoy your day loved ones, and ask, ask, ask!
