I Lost, Only to Gain!

I rededicated my life to Christ a couple years ago. Somewhere along the road I fell off track completely. I made one compromise here, another compromise there, until one day I looked up in disbelief wondering how I strayed so far away from God.

Out of desperation, I had been seeking God. I was asking Him to help me find my way back to Him and then one day He answered my prayer in such an unexpected way, I truly will never forget it. I was laying in bed wondering if I should get up and go to church and I heard the Holy Spirit say to me as clear as day, “if you show up, I will show up.” It was no mistaking what I heard and I knew it wasn’t anything I would say so you best believe I got my butt up and went to church. I went to every service, every Wednesday Bible study, and even decided to go to a Women’s fellowship meeting they held that month on a Monday night; I showed up! And I kid you not, every time I showed up God kept his end of the deal and showed up too. I gave my life completely to God. All the good, the bad, and the incredibly ugly. I gave it all to Him and my life has been completely transformed ever since.

He says in Matthew 16:25 (NIV),

For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for Me will find it.

And boy did I!

Don’t get me wrong, some things I struggled with went away instantly while others took some time to break off.  Other things God is still working with me on till this day but I am confident that He who has begun this good work in me is faithful and just to complete it. (Phillipians 1:6 NIV)

He is the potter and I am the clay.

I pictured myself in a ceramics room as a lump of clay on the shelf.  God sitting at the potters wheel molding a piece of clay into a beautiful work of art and I just watching from the shelf. When I repented and gave my life completely to him, it was my turn!  He pulled me off the shelf, put me on the wheel, and slowly and carefully began to mold me into this beautiful work of art. Adding and subtracting clay as He felt necessary.

I must say everyone, as strange as this may sound, I feel like God is doing just that. He is transforming me into something beautiful. Those who know me can testify to the transformation, and my family has benefited from it in more ways than one. But it took me giving my life completely to God before He could pull me off the shelf. I was in the room, I was on the shelf, but for Him to begin his perfect work in me I had to give him “permission.” God is a gentleman. 🙂

Loved ones, if you haven’t given your life over to God today I urge you to take that leap of faith and watch God move mightily in your life. I am living proof that God does perform miracles.

If you’ve never invited Jesus into your heart as your personal Lord and Savior, I invite you to say this simple prayer:

God, I need you. I am a sinner and need a Savior. I believe You sent Your Son, Jesus to die on the cross for me to pay the price for my sins, and that He rose again. Take over my life today and cleanse me of every spot and wrinkle. From this day forward, I receive you as my Lord and my Savior. In Jesus’ Name I pray, AMEN!!!!

If you prayed that prayer and invited Christ into your heart or welcomed Him back into your life, I would love to hear from you! You can reach me HERE. But let me be the first to say….

WELCOME TO THE FAMILY!

  1. God is definitely a gentleman! And He really waits patiently for us to come to Him or even to return to Him. And who wouldn’t want a god like that?

  2. Oh Christina! What a beautiful testimony! I love reading your salvation story! I love how you focused on what happened after the re-dedication and not so much on what was before. It beautifully testifies to God’s unbelievable goodness! He always fulfills His promises… He said He would show up and He did… He always does! <3 I'm so happy to have you as a Sister in Christ! I'm glad He grabbed a hold of your heart and you completely abandoned yourself to Him!

  3. The visualization of the clay being molded is so soothing to me. A potter has to gently work the clay with his hands and I believe God does this to us also. We might think He’s not being gentle according to what we see, but He is our good Father and molds us ever so delicately,

  4. One of the scriptures/promises I have CLUNG to for the last 20 years of my walk with God is this one. James 4:8 “Come near to God and he will come near to you. ” He WILL respond! He is just waiting for us to respond!

  5. I love your illustration of being the clay and the thought of God working us into something beautiful by both adding and subtracting clay! Such an awesome and accurate image.

  6. Yes! I love how your story speaks of His love for you. I know God will use it to speak to others. If we take time to listen to Him, He will speak to and bless us!
