Godly Glasses

A not so good situation comes up in our lives; we have two choices. We can either look at the situation through earthly glasses or Godly Glasses.

What do you mean?

Well, a costly situation came up in my life yesterday and my first reaction was somewhat of the attitude “Why now??!!” Why not six months ago or even six months from now when I will be in a better position financially. I called my mom and told her what was going on and began sharing my frustrations with her.  She as calm as ever said, “The Lord will show us what to do. It’s really a good thing this is happening now.” Of course I’m like, ” Say what! How so?” She says, “Well if you really look at, the Lord may be having this happen now for this reason or even this reason…” She began listing about five different ways of looking at the situation where it could turn around for my benefit. She was looking through Godly Glasses!!  She immediately changed my perspective and I left that conversation encouraged and asked God to forgive me for lacking faith. I wish I had picked up those glasses first before I picked up the earthly glasses and immediately went into panic mode. Instead of looking at the situation from my earthly perspective I could have looked at the situation through God’s high-up-outside-looking-in perspective and trusted His promise to take care of me.

He says in His Word,

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28 (NIV)

If you love God, if you have accepted Jesus into your heart, this promise belongs to you! It doesn’t matter what situation arises in your life, it WILL work together for your good. So don’t do what I did and instead of holding onto this promise, pick up the earthly glasses. Instead, pick up the Godly Glasses and see what you are going through from God’s perspective and trust and believe that it WILL somehow, one way or another, turn around to work out for your good. Even if He doesn’t reveal the purpose to you right away, memorize this verse, stick it everywhere you set your eyes, and believe it will be shown to you in time. I know God is faithful and one of the best things about Him is He doesn’t break a promise.

Today loved ones, let’s throw away those earthly glasses and get fitted for prescriptive Godly Glasses. I’m pretty certain He has an enormous variety of styles and colors we can choose from! 🙂
