SHUT UP, devil!

Boy, do I get tired of the devil.  Seriously, this dude and his lies and accusations are really annoying!! I don’t know about you, but he causes me to worry, makes me think about the worst of the worst of the worst,  causes me to feel defeated, and somehow causes me to focus on my problems instead of on God. And when I let him, before I know it, I feel defeated.

I am learning to see the devil for who he is and continue to pray God gives me wisdom and discernment to see his tricks before I fall victim to them. I am learning that when he brings a worrisome thought before me, feelings of inadequacy, condemnation, and the like,  I tell him flat out, “SHUT UP DEVIL!” I try to follow that command with a scripture. Sometimes the scripture compliments the thought or trick he’s trying to play on me, other times it’s just the first scripture that comes to my mind. One time I yelled out the verse, Jesus wept lol.  The point is it’s the Word of God and the Bible says in James 4:7,

Therefore, submit yourselves to God. Resist the devil, and he will run away from you.

And boy does he run.

However, it’s important to be in God’s Word to know truth from a lie. If you don’t know what’s in the Word you won’t know the difference. You won’t be able to tell if what you’re hearing is God, the devil, or you. I am getting better at this the more I spend in His Word and learn the character of God. I know to reject thoughts of fear because His Word says “He didn’t give me a spirit of fear.” (2 Tim 1:7)  When I started pondering whether or not God loves me because of the mistakes I’ve made, they straight up get REJECTED. The character of God is love and He is for me not against me. I picture the devil trying to dunk on me and before he gets to the rim I slap the ball so hard out of his hands it goes all the way to the other side of the court. REJECTED!

So dive into God’s Word and know what He says about you; how precious you are to Him. Find out all the many blessings He has in store for you. The promises He has given to His children. When you know these things, the devil doesn’t stand a chance.  When he tries to tell you you aren’t good enough, you can easily tell him to, “SHUT UP!!!”  I am fearfully and wonderfully made (Ps 139:14), A man or woman of God made in the likeness of Him (Gen 1:27).  When he tries to tell you God isn’t hearing your prayers, “SHUT UP devil!!! You are a LIAR, because in Zechariah 13:9 God’s Word says, “They will call on my name and I will answer them.” Say boldly, He hears me when I pray and even though I’m not seeing the manifestation of my prayers YET, I know God is working behind the scenes. Because ALL things work together for the good for those who love God and are called according to His purpose.”(Rom 8:28)  Man, I’m getting fired up by just typing these declarations!!!! HALLELUJAH!!!

Friends, if you have the devil in your ear today, telling you lies and trying to condemn you.  Use your voice! Use the Word! Tell him where he’s headed, NOT you! Stop being a punching bag and PUNCH BACK!!! If GOD BE FOR YOU WHOOOOOOOOO CAN BE AGAINST YOU!!!!

  1. So true! You’re right! He isn’t as audible as we may think. He likes to whisper, not shout. We accept whispers over shouts and feed into his lies! We must daily seek God. We must daily allow the Holy Spirit to rule in our hearts. Thank you for such a powerful post!

  2. We all need to come with fighting Words, and I love how you have today! The battle starts with just one little thought that the Devil likes to insert into our minds, eventually creating a mudslide of negativity, doubt, and discouragement that is faith-shattering. Resist at every little ploy, persistently, and know that God is helping us in our daily fight!

  3. I think it’s key to know what Scripture says so we can call the devils bluff and his lies. When we don’t know how God feels about us, we won’t be able to know a lie from the Truth!

    1. Exactly Julie! If we know how God feels about us, His children, anything spoken contrary to His Word will have no effect on us. Thank you for sharing!

  4. So important! “However, it’s important to be in God’s Word to know truth from a lie. If you don’t know what’s in the Word you won’t know the difference.” Such a great point – we need to be rooted in God’s word!

    1. Thank you for sharing your thoughts Melissa and I totally agree! It is key to be firmly planted in God’s Word in order to be equipped for battle.

  5. When you walk with Jesus the devil wants to pull you away. Using the Word and prayer is only the beginning to Shut Up The Devil. We all are victims of the schemes of the enemy but as our faithfulness and devotion to Jesus grows stronger, His love will always be there with you. Shut the Devil up and down but walking in Faith.

I love this, continue to inspire.
